Dog Gone Hot Outside!

Thinking outside the box to keep my Doggies cool in the heat of the day...

This week as we were preparing for temps to hit 105 this Saturday I was thinking of ways to keep my outside dogs cooler. I know what some of you will say, "bring them in the house". Well they are outside dogs and prefer it outside, they don't like being in the house and we do bring them in during the hottest times of the day. However I still do what I can to provide them with everything to keep them cool. In past years I have been freezing water bottles and having to cut the bottle off to get the chunk of ice to give my doggies an ice treat. This year I have some breast milk storage bags ( yes, you read that right)and as I was standing in my kitchen it hit me how perfect they would be for 'doggy pops'. I used Targets Up and Up brand that I received to test in exchange for my honest opinion.

I filled several with water to freeze and tested it out. The next day I took one out of the freezer and all I had to do was pull the bag open and pull both sides. The 'doggy pop' came right out. The size was perfect and my doggies loved them. My animals get a cooling snack to beat the heat and I get the comforts of knowing they are happy and hydrated. I am going to freeze some left over broth for an extra special treat later tonight.  

FYI...They make great snacks for kids too, you can freeze yogurt,pudding or juice in them. Because of the size more for bigger kids but a great cold snack. For the grown up at a baby shower (not for the guest of honor) you can freeze blended Pina Colada to look like mock breastmilk....lol
